Quickbooks isn’t a bookkeeper
Bookkeeping software imports bank activity and generates reports, but it doesn’t understand your business or care whether the information is correct.
It doesn’t know that a transfer between two accounts was categorized as an expense. It doesn’t know how to break out payroll. It doesn’t know that income was duplicated after reconnecting a bank feed or that a loan payment should be split between principal and interest.
A bookkeeper reviews what happened, reconciles each account to the statements, looks for anything that doesn’t make sense, and asks questions when something needs clarification. The goal isn’t just to get transactions into Quickbooks. It’s to have books that accurately reflect what’s happening in your business.
The software is necessary, but it’s only the start of bookkeeping. Doing the work is what gives you numbers you can depend on.
