Why I left my job at a CPA firm to start my own bookkeeping business
Starting my own business was less a dramatic decision than a sense that I should be doing things differently. There is more to life than proving how hard you can work, and our worth isn’t defined by how much we do.
My plate was full at my accounting job, and one of the responsibilities I took on was bookkeeping. I worked with all kinds of small business owners, and I saw what they were balancing and the intention they brought to their work.
Behind the scenes, I was doing a lot of catch-up bookkeeping to get tax returns filed. Clients didn’t see their P&L or balance sheet, and they didn’t have a real understanding of what they had earned or spent.
I realized I wanted to help people understand their numbers in a way that felt current and clear, so they could make better decisions and grow with confidence. I believe in building genuine, long-lasting relationships and taking the time to truly understand each client and their business.
Now, I get to work with thoughtful, talented entrepreneurs in a way that feels aligned, relaxed, and helpful. A good bookkeeper should bring value and make you feel empowered, and I’m here to make that happen.
