That’s not what I thought

Most business owners have a pretty good idea of what’s happening in their business.

You know which clients take the most time, which services bring in the most money, and where most of your expenses are going. You think it’s lining up, and then you look at the numbers.

Revenue, profit, time, and effort don’t always move together. You can have your busiest month and not make the most money. You can spend a lot of time on work that isn’t especially profitable. You can also have a month that feels disappointing and find out later it was better than expected.

The numbers don’t tell you what to do next, but they do give you something solid to work from. Sometimes success is about understanding what’s already there and making better decisions from that point forward.
